STHL Collaborates with IT Practice Consulting Corporation

Southern Tier HealthLink has entered into a collaboration with IT Practice Consulting Corporation (ITPC).  ITPC is a local agent for the New York eHealth Collaborative (NyeC) Regional Extension Center (REC).  They are an EHR vendor-neutral company that evaluates the use of information technology in a health care setting, and helps the practice determine solutions that would best improve the quality of patient care delivery and outcomes according to an individual practice's specific needs. ITPC's particular area of focus is the privately held, small physician's office.  In their role as a Regional Extension Center, ITPC provides physicians and health care practices with training and support for adoption and meaningful use of electronic health records.

Medent Users Forum at STHL - November 29

STHL will host its next Medent Users Forum on Tuesday, November 29, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.  Matt Cuddy of Community Computer Service, Inc., will provide a demonstration of the Medent Patient Portal features and benefits to participants.  The Forum was first organized in July to provide users an opportunity to learn how to better utilize their Medent system, share successes as well as challenges, and learn about new features. This is the third event that STHL has hosted.  Participants include experienced users who learn from each other and share their knowledge, and novice users who have more recently adopted a Medent EHR, or are planning to upgrade their existing system.  To register for the November 29 Medent Users Forum at STHL, email [email protected], or call (607)-651-9150.

Southern Tier HealthLink Introduces eHealth Global Technologies Imaging

Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL), has introduced eHealth Connect Diagnostic Image Exchange into the STHL HIE web portal to provide community-wide image access through the Southern Tier HealthLink Health Information Exchange (HIE).

Within the context of a patient's community-wide record from STHL's HIE, connected users can view images with a single click of the mouse, on a single, powerful yet easy-to-use viewing platform regardless of the origin of the images.   Images from UHS Hospitals and Lourdes Hospital will be viewable using the eHealth Global viewer.    Read More.

STHL at NYSEG Employee Health Fair

Employees at both Security Mutual and NYSEG had the opportunity to learn more about Southern Tier HealthLink and its services, meet staff, and enter a drawing when STHL hosted booths at each company's Employee Health and Safety Fair on October 26.  STHL staff were on hand all day to educate employees about the benefits of electronic health records, the health information exchange, the importance of consent, and STHL's Patient Portal.

The response from participants was overwhelmingly positive.  Several participants had already learned about STHL through their health care provider, and were excited to learn about STHL's Patient Portal. By registering for the Patient Portal, over 100 employees from both companies gained greater access and control of their health care information.

STHL to Host Binghamton University Class

STHL will host a Binghamton University class "Dynamics of Change in Client Centered Organizations" on November 17.  Diane Crews, Ph.D., Visiting Assistant Professor at Binghamton University, College of Community and Public Affairs, is leading her students in learning about collaborative or cocreated leadership trends which are affecting organizational systems, and the impact of these changing dynamics on innovation.  After hearing STHL Executive Christina Galanis speak at a  local business meeting, Dr. Crews saw the collaboration between STHL and the health care community as closely modeling the theories and trends her students are studying.  She anticipates it will be of great value to her students to learn first-hand about the dynamics of the changes that STHL is leading.  She believes those changes are destined to change the entire culture of health care.  To learn more about Dr. Crews' work, click here.
