STHL Launches Patient Portal; Consumers Can Access Health Information Exchange
6/20/2011

Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL) has introduced the STHL Patient Portal, a service allowing consumers to interact with its Health Information Exchange.

Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL) has introduced the STHL Patient Portal, a service allowing consumers to interact with its Health Information Exchange.  The new STHL Patient Portal will allow healthcare consumers throughout the Southern Tier to:

  • Manage their consent and share data with their doctors

  • Access their providers and their health information

  • Monitor who is accessing their information

Healthcare consumers will be able to review their records through Microsoft HealthVault, a trusted place for people to organize, store, and share health information online.  Available records will include details about allergies, conditions, encounters, procedures, medications and insurance information.

Registration for the Patient Portal is as simple as going to the STHL website sthlny.com and clicking on the Patient Portal link, and filling in some basic identification information.  The Patient Portal is easy, secure and free.

"This new technology is truly amazing," commented Christina Galanis, STHL Executive Director.  "Now the records that have been unavailable to the general public will be accessible to healthcare consumers from their own computers.  We believe that it will lead to faster, more accurate and lower cost healthcare, and it is here today."

Southern Tier HealthLink (sthlny.com) was established with leadership and support from UHS, Lourdes Hospital and other stakeholders in 2005. STHL is a non-profit organization designed as a partnership which brings together healthcare providers and consumers in Central New York to connect the dots with technology that will improve health care quality, access and safety while reducing costs.  For more information contact Christina Galanis at or .
