Transcribed reports from UHS are now available in the Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL) Health Information Exchange (HIE). The transcribed reports include Operative Notes, History & Physical Examinations, Discharge Summaries, Echocardiograms, Angioplasty and other Cardiology-related labs, Catheterizations, and Respiratory reports. Data upload started on June 20 and reports are available to participating hospitals and physicians from that point forward.
HIE technology allows practitioners to quickly access critical health information such as medical history, medications currently being taken by patients and drug allergies. Other important information on a patient's medical record can be obtained even when a patient may not be able to communicate.
Reports will be accessible to organizations for which patients have signed a Southern Tier HealthLink HIE consent document. Select UHS Primary Care and Medical Group practices, Lourdes Hospital, Wilson Memorial, Binghamton General, Chenango Memorial and Delaware Valley Hospitals and independent practices like Endwell Family Physicians and Cardiology Associates can access the reports via STHLs Clinical HIE Web Portal.
With the addition of transcripts, the STHL HIE is now receiving all pertinent electronic patient records from UHS. This is a significant step forward in the building of our HIE for residents throughout the Southern Tier," said Christina Galanis, STHL Executive Director. "Now this information is available at the click of a mouse to physicians throughout the region, providing a useful tool for coordinating care across providers.
Southern Tier HealthLink (sthlny.com) was established with leadership and support from UHS, Lourdes Hospital and other stakeholders in 2005. STHL is a non-profit organization designed as a partnership which brings together healthcare providers and consumers in Central New York to connect the dots with technology that will improve health care quality, access and safety while reducing costs. STHL now offers a Patient Portal, allowing healthcare consumers to access, manage and monitor their health information through the internet. For more information contact Christina Galanis at or .
