Southern Tier HealthLink Implements eHealth Global Technologies Imaging
10/10/2011
eHealth Connect Diagnostic Image Exchange empowers Southern Tier HealthLink with diagnostic medical imaging.
Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL), the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) in Binghamton, NY has implemented eHealth Connect Diagnostic Image Exchange to provide community-wide image access through the Southern Tier HealthLink Health Information Exchange (HIE) for all of their participating healthcare providers.
This service assures that diagnostic quality medical images from UHS hospitals and Lourdes Hospital will be instantly accessible to healthcare providers using the STHL Health Information Exchange web portal. Within the context of a patients community-wide record from STHLs HIE, connected users can automatically initiate viewing images with a single click of the mouse, on a single, powerful yet easy-to-use viewing platform regardless of the origin of the images.
STHL has implemented the image exchange with UHS Delaware Valley Hospital, and expects to implement this exchange with Lourdes Hospital in October, and the three remaining UHS hospitals in the fourth quarter of 2011.
We are pleased to provide our connected healthcare providers the ability to gain instant access to medical images from any of our participating locations, without having to track down physical media. They also no longer need to be concerned with learning multiple image viewing technologies, or struggling to gain direct access to each location in the community that holds the images they need. This will provide clinicians in our region with a complete picture of their patients health, enhance patient safety by reducing unnecessary radiation exposure and help us connect the dots for better healthcare, said Christina Galanis, executive director of STHL.
eHealth Global Technologies (eHGT) is proud to provide the most advanced image exchange technology to STHL, and integrate it seamlessly into STHLs Health Information Exchange (HIE). It is a privilege to participate in enhancing the coordination of care leading to faster, more reliable diagnosis and treatment, said Ken Rosenfeld, president and chief technology officer of eHGT.
eHealth Connect Diagnostic Image Exchanges innovative services are being utilized by a large proportion of healthcare providers in central and upstate New York, as well as other locations in the nation. RHIOs and HIEs are realizing more and more the value, and even the necessity, of securely sharing diagnostic-quality images across their community in a secure, rapid and simple manner. eHGT continues to make strides in providing a state-of-the-art architecture for image exchange that best balances performance, functionality, and cost, finally making image exchange feasible for HIEs concerned with adding value for their stakeholders while achieving sustainability.
