Southern Tier HealthLink Implements Community PACS Viewer
2/1/2012

Southern Tier HealthLink (STHL) is now offering a community PACS viewer to all clinicians at participating healthcare organizations.

Users of the STHL health information exchange (HIE) can quickly and easily view PACS images and reports from the community using the eHealth Global universal viewer.

eHealth Global is an application that is specifically designed to solve image access issues that arise with competing image technologies.

With the eHealth Global applications, clinicians who use the HIE can gain instant access to PACS images and reports without having to track down the physical media or struggle with multiple viewers.

Workstation setup is easier and no additional logins are required to view images (STHL Web Portal user account is required).

Users need only the eHealth Global viewer to view images from Delaware Valley, Lourdes, Wilson Memorial, Binghamton General, and Chenango Memorial hospitals.

We are pleased to provide our connected healthcare providers the ability to gain instant access to medical images from any of our participating locations, and gain direct access to each location in the community that holds the images they need.  This will provide clinicians in our region with a complete picture of their patients health, enhance patient safety by reducing unnecessary radiation exposure and help us connect the dots for better healthcare, said Christina Galanis, executive director of STHL.

Future plans for the STHL community PACS viewer include embedded links into outbound Continuity of Care Record (CCR) and Continuity of Care Documents (CCD).
